INDEPENDENT RESEARCHERS' ASSOCIATION for ANOMALOUS PHENOMENA (IRAAP) view or print factsheet in DOC or PDF format |
The Independent Researchers' Association for Anomalous Phenomena (IRAAP)* is a not-for-profit organization founded in April 1997. IRAAP's objectives are to investigate and research a variety of phenomena, including (but not limited to) Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), crop formations, cattle mutilations, and Bigfoot, and to communicate this information to the membership body by means of a network.
Each member retains his/her independent status; however, is expected to share information with the membership body by communicating investigation and research with IRAAP Headquarters. IRAAP Headquarters will then relay the data to the other members by means of a hard copy newsletter (The Messenger) published six (6) times a year and/or place data on the Internet web site.
Networking and communication are the keys to IRAAP's success. It is recommended that each member's name, address, telephone number, and/or E-mail address be shared with the entire membership body; however, IRAAP understands that some members may require anonymity. A member may request complete anonymity, or allow only certain information to be released to the rest of the membership. It is expected that members will network and assist each other in their investigations/research, as the need arises. Once a member wishes to share findings, data should be sent to IRAAP Headquarters for distribution.
Professionalism, scientific methodology (as much as possible), and witness confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
Annual membership dues are $15 for mailing addresses within the United States. Dues are $20 US for North American addresses, and $25 US per year for all other locations. It must be understood that each member's name, address, telephone number, and E-mail address (if any) will be made available to every other member, unless requested otherwise. All members receive The Messenger newsletter as part of their annual dues at no further cost to them.
Those who are interested in various anomalous phenomena, but do not wish to become members, may subscribe to our bi-monthly publication, The Messenger, at an operating cost of $3 per issue for US addresses (or $18 annually). Newsletter subscribers need not fill out an application, but may simply send their name and address to the address below along with $3 per issue. For mailing addresses outside of the US, cost per issue is $4 US for North American locations, and $5 US for all other locations.
